Aberdeen is the working town between the Village and the south county line. Lots mix in-town streets, US-1 commercial-adjacent yards, and acreage toward the lake. The water feature has to earn its keep in a yard that might also have a shop, a garden, or a dog run.
Soil here is still Sandhills sand over clay. Rain moves fines. Ponds that were dug like swimming pools go cloudy and stay that way. We build with a skimmer, BioFalls, and buried AquaBlox so Aberdeen heat and runoff do not own the water.
Aberdeen Lake and the older neighborhoods want something that looks native, rock that could have come out of a Moore County creek, not a catalog waterfall. Pondless features fit smaller in-town yards. Full ecosystems fit the bigger lots south of town.
